Trumps Nuclear Experience In 1987, he set out to solve the worlds biggest problem.
Donald Trump with his finger on the nuclear trigger. Donald Trump with the nuclear football, the so-called black briefcase of doom, always within reach. The briefcase with the nuclear targeting codes: China yes? Moscow no?

It makes me look at Trump as the adult in a room of children.

It takes no skill to ‘push’ a button. It takes great skill to know when to push and when not to push it.
Slate reprints an article from 1987:
Trump: The Ultimate DealIn which we see the world through the eyes of Qaddafis pilot.
This’ll shut Iran and N Korea up! - - or they’re gone!
No to Cruz; or anyone else in these times -as we risk- being gone.

Interesting article. Was skeptical, since it was Slate, but it turned out to be good.
From the article: "The Bulletins report was distressing, but the Talbott book was worse, a sickening chronicle of bunglers and clowns engaged in Machiavellian bureaucratic maneuvering, the main purpose of which was to find the most effective means of deceiving the American people."
This is exactly what Trump is saying now. We have political hacks making deals on policy and bungling badly while the main goal is deceiving the American people.
LOL - This is the same guy that doesn't know what the nuclear triad is.
Only Freepers who have actually broken a sealed packet with a nuclear code in it, in a drill of course, can comment of this. Just kidding. But it does help you recognize that Ron Rosenbaum understands Donald Trump, and what is at stake.
“This is a painful conclusion for me to come to in certain respects. Because The Subject is nuclear weapons proliferation and Trumps crusade to find a way to halt it before a wild-card nuke deals death to millions. And because Ive become convinced that Trumps involvement is, well, serious, I have to abandon all the easy jokes and wisecracks I could have made if I thought it was some weird ego trip by an overambitious real estate promoter eager to thrust himself into the national arena.”
Would that the Ted Cruz and Mitt Romney supporters here would “abandon all the easy jokes and wisecracks “.

It takes the most skill to avoid the situation in the first place.
I'm very curious. Did anyone notice if the msm mentioned this story out of North Korea this past week?? I'll bet not. I didn't see any mention of it there!

Name another candidate that was warning about the threat of suitcase bombs in 1987.
Thank you for that article. It’s excellent. Trump’s core beliefs and concerns have not changed in almost 30 years. Yes, he is the adult in the room.
Here’s something to ponder. The President cannot just decide to launch on his own. There are strict protocalls that have to be followed.
The last failsafe is the man with the football, he is probably armed and can execute the POTUS if need be.
When Nixon was falling the JCOS set in play protocalls to prevent Nixon from taking over the country

Has any president had “nuclear experience” since Hiroshima?
If we trusted Clinton and Obama with the “football”, surely we can trust Trump.
