In Austin, I don’t know, because, you know, Austin in weird. A real kook/nasty guy was elected Republican chair. But probably just laziness on the part of other candidates.
The alleged switching was in Williamson County to the north of Austin. Travis County (Austin) was where the conspiracy theory chairman was elected probably just by voter ignorance (first name on ballot or better sounding name).
