The GOPe speaks and Trump’s favorables go up 5%...

From 57% to 62% in just a couple of days.

When will they learn?

“He can kiss my ass,” says 89-year-old Louis Fuccillo.

Greetings, Louis, from South Philly.

When does Romney collect his check from Trump?

He's waiting for this week's rent to come in from Gucci's in the tower.

Well, Trump must think Romney is helping him, because he's just tweeted out another online slam at Romney, no doubt hoping for a smug response:

Donald J. Trump ‏@realDonaldTrump 14m14 minutes ago
.@MittRomney was a disaster candidate who had no guts and choked! Romney is a total joke, and everyone knows it!

Just a refresh and reminder that he has the right enemies. Romney shows up like that scabby villain in the TV series Dig, to bring us the "Truth". Is there no one in Romney's life to tell him what a comic figure he is?

Go to thread #3404801 post #258-—

My rant BEFORE I learned that Romney & Ryan have filed papers with the Federal Elections Commission to run for President & VP. They filed these papers on Jan 30,2016——35 days ago. (started the papers last Oct-2015)

They are snakes in the grass—lying POS each of them-—and they haven’t stood up in any debate—held any rallies—rented a single venue—mailed out a single brochure—done any telephone polling—or opened any state campaign office-—NOR OPENLY HIRED any campaign officials.

They think they can run over us roughshod at the last minute & swoop away the nomination?

They both were weak-suck candidates 4 years ago & neither has grown a decent pair since then.

A POX on all of them & their holdings!!!

Romney got slammed over his comments on THE DONALD, but, I have yet to read what he exactly SAID was wrong”””

Romney slammed all of the supporters of Trump with constant refrain that we all were “suckers.”....

That is very offensive to me.

I am 76- a registered Republican for over 55 years.
I own my property, my rolling stock, horses, gear, furniture, and household goods & books. I have a net worth of over $400,000 and I survive on Soc Sec of less than $1130 a month.

I do NOT believe that I am alone in that status. Calling all of us who have worked for all of our lives & have built a small estate are insulted by being called ‘Suckers’ by the likes of Mitt Romney.

He hasn’t done the manual labor I & millions of others have done for all of our lives. I doubt he EVER had a callus. He comes from money & has been handed an elevated status. BTW-—I actually worked at American Motors in the 50’s/60’s when GEORGE ROMNEY was the CEO. That man had class-—Came thru the facilities once a year, introduced himself, asked our name & our job & THANKED US FOR WORKING THERE.

Mitt Romney isn’t fit to polish his dad’s shoes. He sure isn’t fit to call any of us suckers & demand that we follow his trail of broken promises.

Sure would have been nice IF ANY of this vitriol had been used in the last election in 2012. But—not the high born Romney-—he never had any fire in that election cycle & we all are in worse trouble nationwide because he didn’t stop Obama.

Romney can kiss my ass, also.

Romney ran for President (poorly). He takes a 4-year nap and then comes out and tells me who to vote for?

Where was Romney these last four years? And I mean, anywhere on any topic?

He, literally, didn’t show up for anything in four years and he thinks we want his opinion... it’s really sad.

Like a cicada?

The other day I heard some teenager gloating over the fact that Romney had emerged to side with the RNC over bashing Trump.

"Voters get angry . . ." not mad. "Mad" implies mental illness.

The problem with attempting to take over the party is that there are very well heeled, moneyed interests supporting the GOPe that are its main sources of funding for campaigns and other operations. They are not letting go of their influence and just walking away and going home.

Like any old line bureaucracy the GOP is adept at defending itself. Note how it treated and largely neutralized the Tea Party’s influence on Capitol Hill. The party is very adept at using money as a political weapon to control elected representatives. That machinery has been around for a long time and is not going to ever change.

The “sideshow” to which you refer is the direct result of decades of GOP failures and willfully backstabbing its base. Attempting to reform the Republican Party is an exercise in futility. When something is completely broken down you replace it.

New leadership may help but there is a lot of rot and resistance in the party to any “new thinking”. It isn’t going to be easy turning this ship around and putting it on a new course. Trump or Cruz will find that the GOP is nearly as much an obstacle as the Democrats.

I don't think the GOPe truly have a clue yet what has been happening, and when they finally do realize, they will be even more terrified.

For example, they spent 150 million and couldn't budge our opinion of Jeb Bush. Second, Trump is a billionare, but hasn't actually had to spend a lot of money yet. He has skillfully obtained his publicity for free. Third, every strategy the GOPe has used so far has been neutralised for free by social media and blogs. Fourth, the leader so far is an experienced reality tv star, and is running his campaign like a reality show.

Add this up and big money has been effectively made obsolete. Blasting tv ads and expecting people to act like sheep doesn't work. They still have the money, but we have the votes and social networks to counter the money.

Brietbart

By the evening, the hashtag organically blew up into over 20,000 tweets, and one person created a dedicated account, @MittRomneyTape.

Nolte says Romney is going after Trump out of personal ambition rather than concern for the Republican Party. “Mitt Romney is hoping to disrupt the Republican primary, sneak into the convention, and steal the nomination through a dirty backroom deal,” he tells his colleagues at Breitbart News. And the potential existence of a compromising video threatens that effort.

“He wants a third shot at losing the presidency, and if there’s a sex tape out there, the American people need to know about it. And if there is not a sex tape, Mr. Romney needs reassure the American people by proving it.”

Bush spent a lot of money, no question about it. But he also had a lot of baggage. All the money in the world couldn’t change that so I think you would acknowledge that he was a unique case. You simply can’t fix ugly.

Trump is also a unique case of one person having a personal fortune who can self fund his campaign AND cleverly get the media to cover his every appearance. How many times will we see that in our lifetimes?

Cruz and Rubio are accepting money from the Big Money. They are still part of the system and subject to GOP influences. Not saying they are complete sellouts, but money expects a return.

Big money is not obsolete. In fact it operates at the local, state, and national levels because campaigning costs a lot of money. The GOPe is a conduit for that money. We are kidding ourselves if we think that system does not exist.

I do think that the Tea Party was about as pure a movement as you can expect to see. Largely self funded through individual donations. It was a tragedy that it did not attain critical mass and become a new party. We had the chance. That’s the model I’m thinking of; not an imaginary and transient “reformed” version of the corrupt GOPe.

Politics is not, and never will be, pure. You can always pick out a few bad apples or questionable associations in almost any organization.

The current incarnation of the Tea Party is not the same as the original movement which was largely a grass roots effort.
