How Donald Trump Beat Mitt Romney and Won the Fox News Debate

By Matthew Cooper On 3/3/16 at 10:37 PM

“Little Marco,” Donald Trump said, addressing the senator from Florida. It was a seminal moment except for the one before when Trump bragged about the size of his hands, an allusion to Marco Rubio’s joke about them—and thus his, um, manhood—being small as well.

This was supposed to be the day the establishment began to rein in Trump. The debate was down to only four candidates. And Mitt Romney entered stage right, delivering a speech in Utah denouncing Trump as a “phony,” a lousy businessman, a danger to America and a bigot to boot. “His promises,” Romney said, “are as worthless as a degree from Trump University.”

All of that may be true, but Romney was about the worst person to make the argument. It was like sending a crew-cut gym teacher to the microphone at Woodstock and asking the hippies to settle down. Too little. Too late.

Romney chided Trump for not being a self-made man. This coming from the son of an auto company CEO, Michigan governor and cabinet secretary. A phony? Anyone who thinks Romney’s endless reversals on abortion, gun control and other issues were heartfelt needs to say so with a straight face. Romney is precisely the kind of governing conservative who has inspired the Tea Party's revolt since 2010. Just ask John Boehner or Eric Cantor, the erstwhile leaders of the House of Representatives.

There’s a case against Trump, but Romney’s the wrong messenger, especially since he clearly wants an open GOP convention, where the party can anoint him as its savior. They’re more likely to turn to Jeb! Bush.

The “debate” was a coordinated 6 to 1 attack. Actually 7 to 1 if you include Mitt in absentia. Yet Trump prevails again.

Rupert Murdoch’s high-maintenance, egotistical puppet. Their paychecks are much more important than the country and its people.

Debate day was when the establishment was supposed to began to rein in Trump.....then Mitt Romney entered stage right, denouncing Trump as a “phony,” a lousy businessman, a danger to America and a bigot to boot. “His promises,” Romney said, “are as worthless as a degree from Trump University” .....but Romney was about the worst person to make the argument. It was like sending a crew-cut gym teacher to the microphone at Woodstock and asking the hippies to settle down.

I was trying to figure out the Mittster/s body language as he stood there, perfectly coifed, saying stupid things. Now thanks to FReeper PUGACHEV, we know the reasons why the jerk was up there......he was told by the GOPe he was the sage of the century and all America would be agog at his wiseman utterances.

=================================

PUGACHEV: The GOPe didn't have to promise Mitt anything. All they had to do was play to his vanity. "You are a respected elder statesman whose party needs your wisdom and sage advice, Save us Obe-wan Kinobe, you're our only hope."

ANOTHER GOPe SCREW-UP---Reeling from a second straight loss to Barack Obama, a flailing Republican Party in 2013 found its culprit: "Mitt Romney's callous tone toward minorities"....the racist wouldn/t even say hello to his trash man. And don't forget how Mitt was lacerated as an evil capitalist for overseeing Bain Capital.

Recent news reports say the notoriously greedy Clintons used their tax-exempt Clinton Foundation charity to setup a Romney-like money-making private equity fund in the corrupt country of Columbia.

Why Columbia?

WIKI REFERENCE---In 2000, the Clinton administration committed $1.3 billion in foreign aid to the corrupt country of Columbia...... and up to five hundred military personnel to train local forces. An additional three hundred civilian personnel were allowed to assist in the eradication of coca.

The Clinton deal was an addition to $330 million of previously approved US aid to Colombia. $818 million was earmarked for 2000, with $256 million for 2001.

The Clinton-era appropriations for his Columbia Plan made Colombia the third largest recipient of foreign aid from the United States at the time.

--SNIP--

As of 2008, the U.S. has provided nearly $1.3 billion to Colombia through Clinton Plan Colombia nonmilitary aid programs:

<><> Alternative Development (2000-2008 cost: $500 million)

<><> Internally Displaced Persons (2000-2008 cost: $247 million)

<><> Demobilization and Reintegration (2000-2008 cost: $44 million)

<><> Democracy and Human Rights (2000-2008 cost: $158 million)

<><> Promote the Rule of Law (2000-2008 cost: $238 million)

LONG READ--REST AT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_Colombia

==============================================

UT OH---Obama/s now requesting billions for Columbia---to (cough) curb the drug trade.
