In each subsequent election the one with more military experience lost.

Bob Dole was an atrocious candidate. Military experience or no, he did not deserve to win. John McCain was unhinged even back in 2000.

Agree 100%. There were other factors that led to their losses, but it is clear the canddiates no longer have the traditional resumes we had seen for several generations. The current media/tv environment and culture lead to decision made on other factors than a list of accomplishments and lifetime of service. Obama is the bigger example of this as someone with a paperthin resume. Trump fits the bill in his media savvy over long-standing principles or commitment to a set of ideas. He arguably has a fine set of accomplishments, but not in the traditional set of criteria. I think for many, like me, they see him as a highly capable person, so that fills that need, but it’s still a bit of taking a flyer that he can succeed in this role. It’s much different than his companies.
