It seems you are right that Reagan and Trump have pulled in blue collar Democrats. I certainly respect the working man, be he Democrat or Republican. (I have a problem with union thugs - another topic).
According to an old video from Andrew Breitbart, “celebrity” status is huge in America. If so, that may be a large part of the electoral power of Reagan and Trump. We were fortunate that Reagan was a conservative intellectual - contrary to what our liberal media always claimed. I’m not seeing that in Trump.
Maybe will get lucky again. Prayers are in order. Bigotry and tribalism get a bad name - deservedly. But we’ve had affirmative action for all but white men. We’ve had, in Obama, an anti-American, pro-Muslim President. If Trump, in his heart, is a white male American bigot, he might well be better than anyone in the Democratic party.
