If you are an elected Republican officeholder, think long and hard before jumping on the Donald Trump bandwagon.
It's a presidential election year. Naturally you're thinking of your political career. That's a given. You have principles, but you also measure the political winds. You care about your position within the Republican Party. You watch who is rising and who is falling.
You might not admit it in public, but at times you imagine yourself as a future cabinet secretary or vice president, or even as a president someday.

Is the Examiner another money losing rag? Is it backed by some GOPe billionaire with taxpayer bailout money to burn? Dopes.
Whistling past the graveyard. A YUGE change is coming.
As if it is far more “ principled” to vote for Hillary Clinton?
I think this word “ principled” does not mean what they think it means....
From article.
“You have principles....”
Stopped there. Hah!
It’s simply getting down to us versus them. Nothing good is going to come out of this GOPe power grab. I will gladly vote for Trump OR Cruz. No one will steal our government from the will of the electorate.

For several years, the Examiner was backed to a massive scale....they were actually giving the paper away throughout the Arlington free. No one ever talked about what lobbyist group or PAC funded them....but it had to be in the 7-figure range yearly. They owe big-time support to someone.
Donald Trump to American voters -> You care about your country.
Names are being taken on each side.
Two words: Remember Mississippi.
First of all, this election is being run by the American Voter, it is NOT being run by the GOPe; RNC; Wall Street; or past losers of trying to be POTUS:

That's your problem right there!
Seems like “principles” has come to mean servitude to the special interests and PACs, with an oath to defend them at all costs.
The Washington Examiner and Weekly Standard are both owned and operated by The Clarity Media Group A messaging, consulting, and public relations firm. Their business model is to influence public opinion.

Bill McGowan, Founder and CEO of Clarity Media Group, is a two-time Emmy Award-winning journalist who has reported over 700 nationally televised stories. His credits include ABC News 20/20; CBS News 48 Hours, Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel, Dow Jones Television and MSNBC. He has devised interviewing strategies for news figures such as Charlie Rose, Connie Chung, Bryant Gumbel, and Bill OReilly.
Why is this so difficult?
If you are a Republic official, you support the Republican nominee. Period.
Enough said
Voters to GOP hope you enjoy being the WHIG party
The Washington Examiner is owned by the same people who own the Weakly Standard, so it’s no surprise that they are falling in line with that rag.
This “open letter”, actually more of a threat, speaks of the “defining features of the Republican party.” What exactly are these “defining features”? All I see is a mass of open borders and endless wars in the Middle East. That is what the Republican party has become. You can also add, Big Bloated Government, as well.
There are those who oppose Trump on this or that policy point, and those who take a holier than thou approach and condemn him for being married 3 times or swearing or some other moral failure that they clearly don’t have any of. But, the primary driving force behind the anti-Trump movement is the Open Borders and Endless Wars crowd, they’re the ones financing the multi-million dollar anti-Trump ad campaigns, and publishing the foam and spittle flecked screeds in the National Review and the Standard Weakling.
We owe Trump a big Thank You for smoking these rats out of their holes and into the open so that we can see exactly who and what they are.
The GOP establishment are employees of the GOP voters. Must the GOP base now fight Big Govt as well as Big Party?
Maybe there was never any difference. We have seen the enemy and it is the Beltway establishment.
