That's not stupidity, they're just protecting their place at the Trillion-dollar feed trough.
After seven or eight years of systematically looting the Treasury, even the losers' share has got to be pretty rich.
Maybe they'll be smart enough to keep it going, at the expense, of course, of the hard working American man and woman.
But the Trump Effect is a rebellion against this, and if they were smarter they might have foreseen in and figured out a way to defuse it.
They are not smart enough to understand why Americans hold them in such contempt and the magnitude of that contempt much less what to do about it.
