Thanks for Joshua Chamberlain— a teacher who rose to the occasion at Little Round Top and inspired his men of the 20th Maine to defend the left flank of the Union position, and then to charge the enemy when they ran out of ammunition!
I have visited their position many times, and seen the stones they hastily threw up as a tiny wall that day.
In the blazing heat and humidity of July 2, 1863, the brave Texans and Alabamians charged up that rocky hillside four times, and Chamberlain’s men held the position.
Had this little group of men from Maine failed to do their duty, the high ground at Little Round Top would have exposed the entire left flank of the Union Army at Gettysburg to artillery fire.
History would have changed that afternoon.
I posted that photo because he was all but forgotton, as his family wouldn’t allow books on him? Don’t exactly know the story, but then his bio or something got into the public domain, and he was resurrected. All the wounds he had, caused him pain. He went on to do great things in Maine.
Compare Joshua to our commander in Chief or Hillary.
Trump, they can say what they want, has done good things for many people. What have the Cabana boys done, or Hillary for that matter?
I feel my BP rising just thinking about Romney.
