It’ll be moot when Rubio and Cruz are declared ineligible. Funny thing: Most Americans prefer to have an American as President. Go figure.
“It’ll be moot when Rubio and Cruz are declared ineligible.”
You’ve been declaring them ineligible for a while now, but it did not stop them so far.
We have debated this issue here for countless hours. No one is going to change his or her mind. The only thing that matters at this point is if Cruz can be prevented from becoming president by how this issue plays out. I personally doubt it will have any impact more than just soundbites which could actually backfire.
Who do you think is going to declare him ineligible that will actually prevent him from becoming president?
“Funny thing: Most Americans prefer to have an American as President.”
Funny thing, not laughing funny but horribly ironic, is that most Americans prefer abortion. Most Americans prefer homosexual marriage. Most Americans prefer socialism. Most Americans think traditional values and religious freedom are worthless trinkets that should be discarded.
Maybe you come from the French version of democratic thought where “the voice of the people is the voice of God”. I do not. People have the right to be governed by consent. However, that does not abdicate them of responsibility. The majority elected Obama. The majority of Palestinians voted in Hamas, a terrorist organization. Sometimes the majority is wrong.
Now, on this subject, only the most moronic idiots actually believe Cruz is NOT American. And what the majority believes about his citizenship and qualifications is not necessarily correct or what is in the best interest of this nation. The majority of Republican voters may indeed pick US born Trump over Canadian born Cruz. That is the way representative government works. But it does not mean the majority are right.
