GOP strategists, donors sign on to anti-Trump super PAC

Just as GOP front-runner Donald Trump continued to shore up delegates, winning several Super Tuesday states, some top Republican strategists and donors began to line up behind a new effort to halt the Trump campaign's momentum.

Jeb Bush's former communications director, Tim Miller, announced Tuesday that he would be joining the Our Principles PAC, an anti-Trump effort.

Miller will focus on opposition research that will go to expanding the PAC's advertising campaigns - including research targeting endorsers and surrogates like Chris Christie.

Other strategists and big name donors - like technology executive Meg Whitman, billionaire Todd Ricketts, and hedge fund manager Paul Singer - have also participated in the Our Principles PAC effort.

Whitman, who was Chris Christie's campaign finance co-chair, joined with Ricketts, Singer, and about 50 others on a call Tuesday afternoon to solicit funds for the super PAC.

Other strategists and big name donors -- like technology executive Meg Whitman, billionaire Todd Ricketts, and hedge fund manager Paul Singer -- have also participated in the Our Principles PAC effort, according to a report by the New York Times and confirmed by CBS News.

A source with knowledge of the call told CBS News that the thinking behind was to stop Trump on March 15 with sustained, cohesive messaging.

Well, they believe that they can control your mind with enough television.

Because another 100 million ought to do it! /s

I don’t get it. I’ve never been persuaded by a glossy mailer, radio ad or TV spot to move toward a candidate, even though election-time brings those in droves. Are people really swayed by repeated ads and flyers? I’m not convinced money really spent this way makes all the difference folks think it does (other than getting a name out there initially).

That’s the really unforgivable part.
To save their own hides the Inner Party is making noises like they would throw GOP support to a democrat, and not just any `rat: Hitlery.

So candidates lose and instead of leaving gracefully they form Super PAcs to destroy those who defeated them. The consultants are mad about the money they could not fleece and have found another way to keep sucking the donors.

I am just as angry at the attacks on anyone who dares support those not appointed by the establishment.

I have said I would always support Cruz if Trump did not get the nomination but unless he denounces these tactics he is off my support list as well.

Dear GOP strategists.....you can't make Rubio, (aka: "sow's ear"), into a silk purse, no matter how much you rant and rave and throw money around.

Otherwise they would be unemployed. One final gasp for these losers. They still don’t understand the more they attack Trump the stronger he gets. Bring it on, bitches!

What would happen is that we would likely alienate his supporters and we would likely lose the presidential election. But their position is that it would be better for us to lose the [general] election than to have Donald Trump tear the Party in half as the nominee.

if the GOPe goes through with convention antics, and steals the nomination from the People, 50% of the republican party and 30% of the democrat party will start a third party. Maybe we'll even call it the FreeRepublic party :) - and we'll sweep the elections. Goodbye GOPe. Goodbye Dem-e. Goodbye Questionable-wealth Political Elite ;)
