Kristol Lays Out Strategy to Give White House to Hillary: Trump ‘Shouldn’t Win’
Breitbart ^ | 3/2/2016 | John Nolte

Posted on 03/02/2016 7:36:25 AM PST by lodi90

In order to defeat Donald Trump, The Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol admits he is prepared to hand Hillary Clinton the Oval Office. On Wednesday’s “Morning Joe,” the Republican Establishment leader laid out his plot to deprive Trump of the 50% of delegates necessary to secure the nomination. From there, the idea is to go into a brokered convention and cut a kamikaze deal that awards enough delegates to an “acceptable” candidate (who will have won far fewer votes, states, and delegates than Trump).

The problem with the Establishment brokering a behind-closed-door deal that hands the nomination to a Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)79% , is that the backlash against the Republican Party is almost certain to hand Hillary Clinton the presidency.

If a bunch of rich, angry GOP elites rob Trump supporters of their victory, the blowback will result in so many voters staying home in November, Hillary wins. As NBC’s Chuck Todd pointed out last night, at this point the delegate math is such that the only way to stop Trump is through this scheme at the convention.

As you’ll see below, that outcome is preferable to Kristol, and by extension it is safe to assume that outcome is also fine with the rest of the Republican Establishment.

I think you are. You support a liberal statist for President.

Either you're an idiot, or a bald-faced liar. Which is it?

Because it's Trump or Hillary - that's the choice, and you know it. So if you're anti-Trump, you're pro-Hillary by definition, and even morons know that by now.

In fact, that's what this thread is about - that's what Kristol SAID. That's the REASON for this underhanded GOPE plan.

Get lost, liar Rat shill.

It will be good to see you receive the ZOT after you start openly supporting Hillary after Trump wins the nomination.

The 2015 2008-2015 Congress “should have” done what the people elected them to do. If they had, Trump may not be in the lead

Yes.

If Obamacare had been defunded
If GM had been allowed to clean house through the normal process
If there wasn't a "deal" with Iran
If Obama's feet had been held to the fire over the use of the War Powers Act on Libya
If Congress had pushed Obama to build the Mexican wall that has already been approved

Then

- Donald Trump would be filming his next season of "The Apprentice".
- Ted Cruz would simply be the junior senator from Texas, rather than the conservative who fillibustered the Senate.
- Marco Rubio wouldn't have had a reason to join the Gang of Eight and would still be a TEA party favorite.
- Conservatives, mostly pleased with the performance of the GOP, would have accepted their recommended candidate.

I agree with you. The GOP has screwed themselves.

Expressing a concern about the electability of Trump and wanting to go one-on-one doesn’t imply some kind of conspiracy. It implies Ted wants to defeat Trump. I’m not buying he’s been “co-opted by ‘the party.’”

But it still stands... if anyone — GOP-e or other — tries to sabotage the rightful nominee, it should be vigorously opposed.

If I wanted Hillary elected, I’d be pushing Trump. That’s our weakest candidate.

“...NYC values candidate...”

Trump is a very strong second amendment supporter including concealed carry and wants to keep out illegal immigrants with a wall ... hardly “NYC values”. In fact his positions are the exact opposite of the typical NYC liberal, so it is best not to stereotype in this situation.

You are dead right in your analysis of Kristol.

Why do you think Bill Clinton urged Trump to get into the race? Do you suppose he did so because he shares conservative values? Well, I don’t think so. I think he wanted to run against him because they know how much Trump plays to the false narrative and caricature that they paint of conservatives. And he has played that part well.

"Amazing. Trump is the problem, not the corrupt machine he's exposed."

We've known about the GOPe for a long time. The 2012 election in particular was an ugly refresher course. Something does need to be done to get the country back on track - I believe Ted Cruz is the best choice for the job we have today. That anyone can believe that Trump is more honest than Cruz baffles me - the power of the press triumphs again.

Trump's problems are manifold. Both his past and present behavior is unacceptable for a POTUS. He demonstrates very limited intellectual grasp. His emotions are mercurial and childish. He's changed his positions on so many issues over just the last few years anyone can find one to like - the question is what he'll actually do if and when he's elected. Remember, he's not beholden to anyone, including the voters.

If he ends up the nominee, I'll hold my nose and vote for him, given the alternative. It's just a sad spectacle the way this election is going, this should have been the chance to replace 0 with a good man. I absolutely hope that, if elected, Trump will surprise me and turn out to be the president his devotees are hoping for...the country absolutely needs to turn in the right direction.

It is very fortunate that Hillary will likely be his opponent, against her he has a chance...otherwise we'd likely be toast. If the Republicans manage to displace Trump when he should have been the nominee, Hillary will very likely win anyhow, when he runs third party.

I am a CRUZ guy; but if your quote as to what he said to Stepencrapulos is correct ( I didn’t see or hear it, don’t have TV) he just came off my list of acceptable candidates.
I am an AMERICAN; registered Republican for 48 years but AMERICAN, first last and always.
I only owe, and have allegiance to the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Political parties come in very low on my list of who and what I should have loyalty to.
Party loyalty means nothing to me.
Loyalty to my country and the CONSTITUTION means everything to me.

I am a CRUZ guy; that said, if TRUMP gets the nomination, I pledge upon my honor as a UNITED STATES MARINE (1968-1973) that I WILL vote for DONALD TRUMP.
That good enough for you?
I will still vote for Cruz in my states primary (if he is still in).
