Trump certainly has a brash style but he does not appear to be the authoritarian this purple-prosed article promises. In fact, he is, by extensive self-description, a dealer, which is one thing that most alarms the conservatives here on FR. He says A but he'll settle for B. That's what a businessman does, within a certain set of limits. He's written books on it. This isn't hard to understand.
And so we are actually pretty unlikely to see anything mentioned in this piece that is currently dripping little pools of dread to the virtual floor. No brown-shirted hordes taking over DC, no white-robed Klansmen rolling back the tide of social justice for the chronically oppressed (who also happen to be affluent, noisy, and privileged themselves). Some academics may be called names by the people they've been calling names over the last eight years. Some authority may be challenged. Certain government excesses may be curtailed. Larry, that isn't a threat to what you've been misnaming "democracy", it IS democracy. It isn't going to be a steady drumbeat of victories for the progressives on a march to an imaginary Utopia. That was always a ridiculous fantasy, and what is about to happen is a dose of reality. Deal with it.
Very nicely expressed.
