Is this the same Scott Adams that wrote the ‘Adventure’ type games for the old TI 99-4/A computer? You plugged in a specific cartridge for each particular game. You typed in directions like ‘go north’, or ‘pick up book’. I remember one was on a tropical island and you had to find the treasure.
