History does repeat itself.
The republican elites were in a similar fit of pique 40 years ago when Ronald Reagan won the republican nomination for the 1980 presidential election.
Reagan went on to win the election in a landslide, receiving the most electoral votes that a non-incumbent presidential candidate had ever won.
But the republican elites still didn’t like him.
Basically their position was that he was a Washington outsider, not suave enough, and that he shot from the hip.
They nearly went into convulsions when he called the Soviet Union ‘The Evil Empire’.
Sound familiar?
Yeah, because a third party run is always helpful.
Get over it, GOP-e... If Trump’s the nominee, suck it up and help pull him over the finish line, because the alternative is Her Infernal Malevolence in the White House. And THAT crap sandwich would be far worse.
I think there was a typo and they added a "1" in front of the real number.
Go ahead and destroy the GOP. They’re Demoncrats anyway.
For those that don't remember he actively walked the Republican Party back from Reagan's path, engineered Pres Bush's going back on his "No more taxes" pledge and gave us Supreme Court Justice Souter.
If Sununu says yes, then I say no.
Every candidate they’ve run, or supported in the last ten years have been disasters. Long live the Whig party!
Republican leaders should jump out of windows in a very tall building for the good of the country.
The GOPe has money strings being pulled by the big money people that put them in power. They CAN”T and WON’T listen to the anger against them. (Well, they could listen to the anger but won’t because they have been neutered long ago). They have no weapon with which to fight the revolution THEY created. Change is at the door and they are scared VERY SCARED!
What will be the first two words heard at the GOP headquarters the day after Trump wins the election?
Interesting in that he was GHWB’s Chief of Staff, and GHWB’s reelection was killed because of a 3rd party candidate. But I guess *that* was different.
Total schadenfruede over the implosion of the GOPe.
we have a nominee who is a disaster for the party. sunusance has it right and thats where we are going, bye bye
This is turning out better than I hoped. We can force the GOPe out and retake the party without firing a metaphorical shot.
