Death of a salesman: If Trump becomes Prez, his supporters will soon experience epic disillusionment
The New York Daily News ^ | February 27, 2016 | Josh Greenman

Remember when Barack Obama promised the world in 2008, only to leave some enthusiasts bereft after he failed to close Guantanamo, much less slow the rise of the oceans?

If we elect a President Donald Trump, you ain't seen nothing yet when it comes to disillusionment.

Imagine the fury among his supporters when their outsized hero is exposed as a huckster who cashes the check as soon as the car is off the lot.

The brash billionaire has sold I-can-fix-it-just-you-watch pledges to millions of voters enraged about a steady stream of hollow political promises. To them, Trump towers as the man who means what he says and who will finally, after a long line of empty suits, deliver.

Fully 43% of Republican voters see him as the candidate most likely to get things done in Washington -- more than double the number who have confidence in his next closest rival.....

There can be no bigger disappointment than Obama.

Obama ran on a platform of "Hope and Change", promising to fix the economy and unite America. Yet for all his rhetoric, the truth was Obama really had no idea how to fix the economy/create jobs; his only solution was socialism. Well, we've now had nearly eight years of Obamanomics and the economy is still stuck in first gear.

People can say what they want about Donald Trump, but he does know something about business and creating jobs. Whether he can make a difference remains to be seen. But, compared to Obama, Mr. Trump is on much firmer ground.

They’ll continue to find things to complain about.

Now I’m nervous, the New York Daily News is a very conservative newspaper.

Agreed. Trump COULD possibly be the first to not stab us in the back... but given the fact that his defining drive is his megalomaniacal ego, I don't want to bet the nation on it. But I will happily eat that crow if necessary.

Despite not liking his campaign much (I try to blame the campaign manager in my head), I am still hoping for the guy who has spent a lifetime working in the trenches for limited-government causes and against anti-Christian attacks. Go Cruz (please).

A surprising percentage of Obama fans accepted his explanations and excuses for not keeping his promises for a very long time — some do still. I would guess Trump fans would be much the same.

Oh, your concern for our feelings is so touching and disingenuous, you dirt bags.

The thing is that Obama really did deliver on some lasting, liberal objectives. Conservatives may not like to hear it, but he has been the most successful and transformative Democrat president since FDR. The political and cultural changes on his watch will be something we have to deal with for a long time.

I think the only ‘epic disillusion’ will be (and already is) among the faux-Conservatives in the DC/Media complex, and the GOPe when they realize they cannot put this Genie back in the bottle.

As a matter of fact, yes. And I wouldn’t want Louis L’Amour, WEB Griffin or Robert Jordan in the White House, either. Having said that, I will, of course, vote for Trump over the Democrat.

Correction... When Trump simply becomes the NOMINEE, the reality of Trump will unfold; he’ll skewer Illary yet while moving toward the center as The Great Moderate.

Obama pretty much achieved most of his goals. Those goals were making America fail. He has done that.

What he has not finished, Trump will.

Much like the “disillusionment” experienced by the blacks after Obammie took the thrown?

Well you are not wrong about Obama. He is a puppet of darker forces and his mission was to destroy the American economic system and dilute our culture. He has 10 more mos to play this game. Trump wants to roll this stuff back that is why he is running. He does not need this crap in his life. He just recognizes that no one else worthy of the task is running. You should be thankful that for once one of Americas best and brightest is sacrificing four years of their life for his country.

Closing the border will be a good thing, I do not disagree, but I seriously doubt Trump will be able to accomplish that.

And as to your snarky remark about Super Tuesday. Yes, I will be very unhappy, does that make you happy, proud of yourself, kick sand in our faces, stomp our heads in the mud, or whatever you feel will make you elated?

You are passing up the very best candidate that has come our way since Ronald Reagan and that is Ted Cruz. Feel like stomping me more in the mud for that as well? Is there no GRACE in winning?

Nah, I think we are finally going to see what stripping establishment of some power is going to do.

I think we will be liking the result.

I agree! I don’t like Trump,Cruz, Hillary...any of them but the fact that Hillary could be indicted...Bloomberg or Romney jump in....supreme court in balance makes this the best election ever!

Ted Cruz is a an establishment candidate hiding behind a thin veneer of maverick conservatism.

Wow, these anti-Trumpsters are like children screaming in hysterics over imaginary monsters in the closet. They need to be fed their teaspoons of sugar water and sent back to bed.
