I once knew and was a friend of a legendary defense attorney whose advice to me was:
“Never call a person a crook no matter how bad tho think he is. Just call him stupid. There is no law against being stupid.”
In other words, that is how to stay clear of slander and libel litigation.
Cruz comments on Trump not releasing his returns is equally slimy because he as an attorney would never allow a client of his to release any information or even discuss the returns so long as the audit was in progress.
“In not saying he’s not a natural born citizen, but many, many good attorneys say he isn’t so I don’t know. He was born in Canada.”
