We pay our unemployed very handsome welfare benefits that many prefer to low wage, seasonal work.
Welfare should be an umbrella to keep food on the table and roof over the head so as to motivate them to take available, lower wage jobs, at least as a stop gap until the economy opens up. I speak as one who in my younger years was in charge of employment for medium size corporation. Sometimes it is hard to find people who want to work even when offering decent compensation..
Reading the article, this is regarding legal immigrants. 1100 in 15 years. That’s fewer than my own company.
