Four people were killed and 14 others injured in a Thursday afternoon rampage through a rural Kansas county that ended with the death of the gunman at police hands.
The gunman, identified by several Wichita news outlets as Cedric Ford, was a disgruntled worker at Excel Industries in Hesston, which suffered all the fatalities.
Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton told reporters late in the evening that the gunman killed three Excel workers people before the first officer called to the scene shot him dead. Sheriff Walton said the gunman fired at people from his truck in nearby Newton streets and wounded one person. Another person was shot on Highway 81 on the way to Hesston.
He arrived at the Excel parking lot and shot one person, before going inside the plant and began shooting.
Sheriff Walton said five of the victims were in critical condition Thursday night.
“It was a black male with an AK-47 who was an employee, or used to be,†one woman told Wichita TV station KAKE just outside Excel, a company that makes Big Dog and Hustler mowing equipment. Eyewitness from inside the factory confirmed her account.
Ford fits that description, and the Facebook page of a Cedric Ford identifies him as an Excel worker and shows photos and videos of Ford wielding and using multiple firearms. He had a criminal record in Kansas and his native Florida, according to KWCH, the CBS affiliate in Wichita.
The woman told KAKE that her husband is a supervisor at Excel and she had other friends at the plant, one of whom she said had been shot and critically injured. She said she got her information from her husband inside the plant during a company head count for survivors.

And, of course, if the horrifyingly unthinkable had been the case i.e. one of those victims or another person nearby had been armed then perhaps Mr. Disgruntle would be the only one dead.
The guy is named right there in the second line. Cedric Ford is not a typically Hoodie name.

The murderer is the most victimly victim according to Liberal reckoning. He is a victim of dysfunctional society and racism and it is only natural, though unfortunate, that he would shoot up his place of employment. We have to sympathize with him and condemn those racists he righteously slew. It would have been far worse if one of those racists had been armed and had killed him before he got off his fatal shots. Self defense is the unforgivable crime because it is a rationally considered act of violence against a Victim Of Society. deliberate violence, whereas the VoS is only doing what evil Society has forced him to do.
If the man was last arrested in 2000 - and not because he was in prison until 2015 - I would be inclined to give him a chance.
Taking into account the nature of his crimes, the fact that he might have committed crimes and not been caught, his work history since release, his attitude. Checking social media - seeing if he is posing with guns, money, drugs or thugs - would be a good idea.
If no one will hire released felons, what are we supposed to do with them? Let them beg on the streets? mooch off women? Give them a felon’s stipend? Not expect them to commit crimes?
And factory work might just be the best employment for a convicted criminal who wants to go straight. You’re not sending him into people’s homes or giving him access to personal information.

It is simply incomprehensible how this could have happened what with the signs up there and all.
How long will it take for the media to describe this man as a victim of workplace racism and extreme intolerance.

Could be, or the guy could be like me, and he is using sarcasm to point out the inanity of the signs and "gun-free" zones.

He also, apparently, ignored the fact that felons can’t own guns.
