Judge Scalia's death put Roe v. Wade back in the conversation. After all, abortion and that 1973 opinion are always foremost in the minds of U.S. Senators confirming judicial nominees. One side is looking for a justice to save it and the other side wants one to overturn it.
Nevertheless, abortion clinics are closing across the country and it has nothing to do with Roe v. Wade. It's about states restricting the clinics, as we see in this report:
At no time since before 1973, when the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion, has a woman’s ability to terminate a pregnancy been more dependent on her zip code or financial resources to travel.
The drop-off in providers -- more than one every two weeks -- occurred in 35 states, in both small towns and big cities that are home to more than 30 million women of reproductive age.
My state of Texas has been at the forefront of this issue. The legislature has drawn up very tough mandates forcing doctors to have admitting privileges at hospitals nearby. Back to the aforementioned article:
The drop-off in access has helped depress the abortion rate in the state by 13 percent, according to a July study, and providers there say full implementation of the law would leave almost a fifth of Texas women 150 miles or more from a facility.
There are two issues here: a woman's safety and whether or not a state legislature can regulate abortion.
On the safety issue, it sounds reasonable to me to have certain standards at the abortion clinics. After all, an abortion is a medical procedure and there are risks to the woman.

Two words.....Kermit Gosnell
Kermit Gosnell, truly a demonic individual. And I don’t usually use that term.
I don’t think that it is unreasonable to require that an abortion clinic meet no less than the sanitary standards of a veterinary clinic. Or are women to be treated lower than dogs.
speaking of... when’s that movie about him supposed to come out?
No idea. As I understand it the producers held a GoFundMe campaign because nobody in Hollywood would greenlight the project. Are you surprised?
I just found this page with updates on the project:

Looks like it’s still on course.

Just want to mention. While Roe vs Wade was a landmark case on abortion it did NOT rescind the rights of states to regulate abortion or abortion providers.
And that’s why we see many states restricting abortion in various ways. They are going as far as they can within the guidelines of Roe vs. Wade, to reduce abortion in their states.
We should also note that the Supreme Court, in a 5 to 4 decision , upheld the federal ban on partial birth abortion. So legally, abortion restrictions are definitely permitted and clearly are legal, even though the liberals wish it weren’t so.
Irony is lost on the pro-abortion crowd.
One of their arguments for legalizing abortion was to make it a safe procedure.
Reality got in the way of that since it has become obvious anyone willing to murder a child does not have much in the way of concern for human life. Many of the abortion mills have few standards, and as a result more woman die today from abortions than died when they were illegal.
Those that provide abortions should at minimum meet the same standard as any other medical provider.
Indeed and even before Roe v Wade certain states had made abortion legal. Depending on circumstances at least 18 of them allowed legal abortions.

Women that kill their own children are lower than dogs, sweet cheeks, much lower.
American women have killed upwards of 50 million of their own innocent, precious children in a horrific and torturous manner since 1973.
Many of them are being forced to become medical clinics instead of being tantamount to a tattoo parlor. .
Actually they didn’t kill the children. They paid a doctor to do it.
Which is even worse.
They go into that clinic in a premeditated fashon, knowing full well they are intentionally going to kill an innocent human being - their own flesh and blood. Nobody forces them. Even if they choose to evade the responsibility of caring for the boy or girl, there are plenty of alternatives to murder.
Even the most savage of animals don’t kill their own young out of convenience.
. . . Nobody forces them . . .
ummmm I have heard different.
Remember, someone in such a precarious situation — doesn’t take much — —
