I live just south of Albany NY and my husband attended SUNY Albany (a long time ago, but we have ties) and a now mid twenties daughter who also went there so we have a feel for the mood of the place.
The minute I heard this story I assumed that this was going to be proven to be a false accusation by the alleged victims.
The general feel of the city and the white people around here are not the type of people who would do this; it seemed preposterous and fabricated to me.

Never even been there and I knew it was a hoax. I don’t deny there’s the occasional white racist wandering around, but every time I’ve seen one speak up — and this in small town America — every other white person in the room gives them a scold. No way a bunch of white people would pull this on a bus in NY in what is essentially a college town, let alone in a state capital — probably the two biggest indicators that a city leans liberal.
