If Cruz Wants to Win, Thursday Night He'll Have to Clock Trump With Everything He's Got -- And More
The Daily Wire ^ | February 23, 2016 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 02/24/2016 11:06:42 AM PST by St_Thomas_Aquinas

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has one option if he wants to win the Republican nomination. Tomorrow night, during a debate with Donald Trump, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Ohio Governor John Kasich, and Dr. Ben Carson, Cruz must clock Trump as hard as he can with his best rhetorical punch. He can't be lawyerly. He can't be civil. He has to get in the mud with Trump and pulverize him. There are three reasons for that.

Rubio Will Never Drop Out... Rubio's going nowhere...

Cruz Must Win More Than Texas On March 1, Or he's toast. Again, the fact that Rubio won't drop out under any circumstances means that Cruz can't hope to win a bunch of second places in the SEC primary, then go forward and pick up Rubio's supporters. Rubio will still be in after the SEC primary. And as we saw in Iowa, even a Cruz victory turns into a Rubio victory in the media...

So, all of this means that Cruz will actually have to beat Trump outright with Rubio still in the race, not wait for the never-gonna-happen Rubio flameout. He can do it, but only by recognizing that Trump is the biggest set of balls in the race, and the only way to defeat Trump is by kicking him directly in the groin on national television. That means Cruz should unleash everything up to and including the kitchen sink. He's going to have to out-masculine Trump.

He should face down Trump and say to him, "Donald, for months, everybody has been tiptoeing around you out of courtesy. Enough. We all know you're a spoiled brat who's never had anybody say no to him. You're a pathetic, bloated old man who stood on daddy's money stack to make billions, and then can't shut up about how he's a self-made man. You're a ridiculous dolt who lies about his politics, brags about having sex with married women, and shafts little old ladies for cash. And every time you are attacked, your face turns as red as the Kool-Aid man -just like it's doing now. Then you cite polls, as though polls make you not all those things. They don't. You're just as much of a ridiculous clown as you ever were."

If Trump tries to interrupt him, Cruz will have to tell him to shut the hell up, and then not back down.

It will be brutal. But if Cruz wants to win, he's going to have no other choice. Trump won't be defeated so long as both Cruz and Rubio are in the race, and Rubio's going nowhere. Somebody's going to have to knock King Trump off the top of the hill.

Every time Trump speaks, Cruz should laugh his head off and egg him on. Ridicule, Alsinskys’ first rule, works every time.

“Truth is the perfect defense, after all.”

I’d love to read the US gov dossier on Raphael Eduardo Cruz, Sr. I suspect there is a tale there as interesting as Barry Soetero’s.

Personally, I’d like to see YOU handle a giant raptor. Get back with me about how that works out for you

Why propose a dumb scenario like that ? When is the last time you or tRump for that matter stood up to a charging 200-300 lb. tusked Feral Boar, before plunking it between eyes 30 feet away?

Maybe the Donald can join in my next hunt.. Oops, I forgot, he proobably doesn't own a rifle.

“Ben Shapiro sounds like a spoiled crybaby who hasn’t gotten his way and doesn’t know how to deal with it.”

His way of dealing with it appears to be to egg Cruz on to pick a fight with Trump.

“Let’s you and him fight”

“That tells me that their problem with Trump isn’t his tone, it’s probably more to the fact that he can’t be bought and controlled like the rest of them.”

That and plain, ugly envy, IMO.

They have to manufacture the emotion and the statement, focus group it, tweak it, rehearse it and deliver it JUST right.

YES!!! And that, my FRiend, is why the GOP has lost so much recently. An example: In 2014, Freshman Senator Corey Garnder won over the dummycrat incumbent here in CO. IN HIS VICTORY SPEECH (!!!!!!) Gardner stated then and there that impeachment and government shutdown were off the table. Why would someone who just got done winning with tea party support say such an asinine thing? Polls indicate that he may lose his seat the next go around if he participates in impeachment or shutdown. Spineless, ignorant, traitorous piece of garbage! Just like the rest of the GOP. And they wonder why Trump is out front so far. Lol. Morons.

I had more respect for Ben Shapiro than to believe he would come up with something as ridiculous as this ...

I think many voters are becoming “debated saturated” and are losing interest in tuning into the debates.

At this juncture, honestly, I think they will have less and less of an impact. What will make the difference from this point forward is rally type events or candidate sponsored “town halls”.

So far, endorsements have not have much impact. Yet, as others become tired of the debates and start to tune out, I think endorsements while not a huge factor will start to become more of a factor.

I am not even sure I will watch the debate, probably will. But I am a political junkie. There is a lot of excitement for this election on the Republican side, this will continue and I think it is much broader in excitement than on the Democrat side. But the excitement is about Trump, and more and more it will grow, not diminish. Folks will tune into Trump during interviews on Hannity or other such shows or news cable interviews. But again, less and less will tune into the debates. Sorry.

So I don’t think anything much Cruz would do during a debate is going to help him, this likely is the last debate folks may tune into. But mostly, these will be folks who already decided on Trump (or for that matter Cruz), but those who may go Rubio or Carson or (what is his name again?) actually will be not much into the debate. Anyone leaning Rubio will not go Cruz no matter how much Cruz acts like a vampire in the and anyway no one cares anymore.

Cruz’s only hope is to have some events in Texas, pick up some endorsements from politicians in Texas (the evangelical endorsements are having little value now) so yes, he will need to get politicians at the State level to give him some push power. He will have to get over 50% in Texas or the delegates will be divided up and I don’t think he is going to get that. I know Cruz supporters just want to attack Trump with all sorts of hit jobs and “back in 1998” stuff, and it isn’t going to work anymore and just paint Cruz more and more as Richard Nixon.

Cruz needs to do a ‘can you imagine speech’ like he did when he launched his campaign, but instead make it a ‘can you imagine a trump presidency speech’

All the people you mentioned are lackeys of The Cheap Labor Express.
They have spent years trying to convince us we have no choice but to abandon the rule of law and surrender our country.

Well, both of us have stood up to NYC ferals in the 70s and 80s. I’ll pit that against your ferals any day, Davy Crockett. And, believe me, I have stood some of those human ferals down and survived to tell the tale.

He should point out that Trump lied and cheated to win Nevada.

Told folks ALL the other candidates left the state early in the day making it look like they did not care.
Cruz did not leave and was there till late at night.

Trump lied and cheated his way to victory.

That’s exactly what Biden did to Paul Ryan.

You should look for Donald Trump Jr’s appearance answering questions in NV, it’s on YouTube. I watched it yesterday, his son is a competitive long range shooter, reloads 100 different calibers. Very impressive fellow.
Can’t see him being raised by a liberal.

Interesting...... Looking around the web I found no evidence that tRump ever had any dangerous interaction with the locals of NYC.

Sounds like more tRumpet bloviation if you ask me. Trump was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, went exclusively to private schools, and was highly protected like the rest if his ilk. Show me some proof.

About the only thing Ted Cruz could do that is dumber than this idea would be to disappear and go ‘hiking on the Appalachian Trail’.
