A lot of brilliant people dedicated their lives to conservatism and it mattered. Now, they are replaced by Trump and Savage.

Indeed. Weep is right. Mark Levin played side by side clips of Reagan and Trump. Trump was whining about a Cruz ad which was truthfully warning westerners that Trump had no commitment to helping the states get their land back from the federal land grabbers, the very thing ranchers are being arrested and shot over in Oregon. But Trump turned it totally around, made it seem like Cruz was the one with a problem, and then started digging in to tear away like the Devil himself at Cruz’s reputation. It was horrifying to listen to.
An all the more horrifying because, just before that, he had played a clip of Reagan speaking during his first inaugural address, in which he told the story of the soldier’s pledge. Please view it here:

And as I thought how far we have fallen off that way, how much we have lost, how we have become so willing to cheer on the inane crassness of the carney barker who now dominates the Republican primaries, I did weep. I mourn for our loss. I did not fully appreciate it at the time. Now I do.
