The Cruz staff served Cruz poorly. Trump did not hit on Cruz until the Cruz staff - a slime bunch with a reputation as suck that predated them working for Cruz - maybe had Cruz pick a fight with Trump.
Trump said he only attacks if attacked and he always lets the other side attack first. When Cruz attacked trump I think it created a feeling among neutral observers that Cruz ruined the narrative of a Trump and Cruz potential relationship.
Cruz should fire all his campaign staffers.

I like Donald Trump *and* I like Ted Cruz. Either of them will easily be a far better POTUS than any of the Democrat choices.
During those months when they were courteous to each other, I was sooo hopeful for a unified team against Hillary C., Bernie S., Elizabeth W., and/or Joe B.
