Republican Rubio seeks boost in Nevada, but Trump dominates polls

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio is looking to outpoll rival Ted Cruz in Nevada's caucus on Tuesday to help bolster his position as the establishment favorite for his party's nomination for the Nov. 8 election.

Looming over the tight race between the two first-term Cuban-American U.S. senators is Republican front-runner Donald Trump, the billionaire businessman who has won two of the first three state nominating contests and is expected to dominate the field in Nevada.

With Trump, a blunt-spoken political outsider, commanding a double-digit lead in a handful of Nevada polls, political strategists in the state said Rubio and Cruz were both aiming lower, each hoping for a clear win over the other that could propel them through the busy voting month of March.

"They're playing for second," said Nevada political analyst Jon Ralston, adding: "It'll be a Trump state."

A recent CNN/ORC poll put Trump ahead by 26 percentage points in Nevada at 45 percent support, followed by Rubio, from Florida, at 19 percent and Cruz, from Texas, at 17 percent.

Lagging behind were retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, with 7 percent support, and Ohio Governor John Kasich at 5 percent.

Kasich, who finished second to Trump in the Feb. 9 New Hampshire primary, kept his focus on bigger states including Michigan and Virginia, where he campaigned on Monday, hoping to gain support there among mainstream Republicans.

The rivalry between Rubio and Cruz, who won the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 1, has intensified as both seek a boost going into the nominating contests in a dozen states on March 1, known as Super Tuesday.

The Ministry Of Propaganda has orders to pump the Memorizer Bunny at every opportunity.

Fox News has been at it since Yeb! flamed out.

The RNC still owes The Cheap Labor Express an amnesty candidate.

Yup I smell a big fat rat in this one. Reports of Nevada GOP in disarray, no new polls released, and Romney’s Mormon hands in the state helping Rubio. Rube will either get a “shocking” win or close second to set the new media narrative.

Yeah, I have that feeling a little bit too, but Marco is damaged goods on immigration, and Cruz is damaged goods on trust and likability.

Hopefully it’s such an overwhelming Trump victory, dirty tricks won’t matter.

But reporting caucus results with cell phone pictures just seems like a system begging for fraud. It might get ugly.

Rubio doesn’t need 1st.

2nd buys him time to amass Gope cash, and keeps enough of the media cycle on him. The establishment wants to go into the convention with influence, not as discredited third place also-rans.

As long as he keeps Cruz in 3rd he wins.

Cruz is in freefall...he is toast, commited political suicide by himself...what a dummy!!! Rubio is not near ready for prime time...plus he is a turncoat, siding with the Democrat vermin on Immigration & amnesty!!! Trump rules!!! A vote cast for either Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio is a thrown away, wasted vote!!!

GO DONALD JOHN TRUMP!!! Nevada voter turn out enmasse for the Nevad Caucus and vote for only Donald J. Trump!!!

I’m not too worried about any tricks.

Caucuses have taken such a beating on both sides this year that it’s easy to take any result and call it into legitimate question.

They also have no bearing on future races, so it’s like a goofy train wreck to get past.

Besides, it’s Nevada. If there isnt some cheating, then the whole thing was crooked.
