Trump Tells Ricketts Familty to Stop Spending Against Him .. Or Else
American Spectator ^ | February 22, 2016 | Emily Zanotti

...

[T]he Ricketts family, have come under fire from Donald Trump on Twitter, for their contributions to Our Principles PAC - a Team Romney-led effort designed to handicap Trump in primary states. Marlene Ricketts, wife of Joe Ricketts, founder of TD Ameritrade, has contributed around $3 million, so far, to help air ads attacking Trump in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. And Trump is none too happy about it.

"I hear the Rickets family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending $'s against me," Trump tweeted. "They better be careful, they have a lot to hide!"

For starters, the money spending isn't exactly secret - it's available for Trump's viewing pleasure on Open Secrets, and in the Our Principles PAC SEC filings. It's also no secret that the Ricketts are conservative. Prior to financing the campaign to depose the self-proclaimed Republican frontrunner, the Ricketts financed Gov. Scott Walker's short-lived campaign, and have contributed to everyone from Texas Gov. Rick Perry, to Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, to Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and former Gov. Jeb Bush. They are one of the few large donor families making big spends against Trump this cycle - at least, so far. And while there isn't much data on whether the ads were successful, they appear to have at least gotten under Trump's skin (which is, admittedly, not that hard to do).

But what's really strange here is what Donald Trump is threatening to do should Ricketts resist his social media plea for satisfaction: according to Trump himself, the Ricketts family should prepare to be publicly smeared, all for the petty crime of being the political opposition. Donald Trump isn't owed a coronation, or the unqualified allegiance of the GOP's feudal lords.

Think Trump is a great sales man!

This will be his greatest sales job. Another feather in his cap. Another trophy to place on the mantle.

And to answer.

America’s anger is beyond belief, and our ‘anointed’ have no idea, or won’t admit it. Any one who will destroy or take revenge on our enemy (those in power) that is what it wanted.

Revenge is a powerful energy if you can harness it. jmho

Didn't realize it was black or white..

Freedom is a black and white issue. If you support a "gray" freedom, there is none and what little you have can be taken away because you've already surrendered it.

I can’t enjoy it. There are no laughs on the road to destruction.

When did they lose the right to contribute to whomever they wish?

Hi Dj!

I think they have the same right as you and I to contribute to who ever they wish. What I don't think is right is just because they have more money than you or I, their voice is more powerful.

I'm fed up with the wealthy controlling elections for their own interest and not of the interest of the country let alone you or I.

Well I will say you got the spin down pat.

There is a big difference between addressing the message or trying to silence someone else's freedom to speak or support whomever they wish by threats.

So let's elect a Billionaire that can buy his way into office.

That will fix it! /s

It isn’t being harnessed. It’s being focused on destroying freedoms.

Hi Ron! :-)

The issue is whether to address their message or threaten them into silence. I prefer freedom.

Well... you can’t change it if that’s what the country wants to do. You’re only answerable for your own deeds so don’t worry too much about what you can’t control. =)

Yikes, my point went right over your head.

I would rather have a self made man pay his own way then have a man in office beholden to men like George Soros.

The fact you would use the term “buy his way” sounds a whole lot like an envious leftist phrase.

Trump is threatening people. That's a BIG difference!
You address the message. You don't threaten the messenger. KGB tactics anyone?

I would think that the counter argument would be: "If you have anything, sue me, otherwise STFU." If Trump doesn't follow through, he has egg on his face - again. (BTW, Still a Trump/Cruz supporter.)

Yup. I’m glad Trump is pulling the mask off the PAC donors. Let’s know who they are and what their motives are. They are spending millions on anyone but Trump. He is welcome to take them on and call them out.

“a Team Romney-led effort designed to handicap Trump in primary states”

More reason to believe that there will be a brokered
republican candidate against the will of the people.
I see little chance of the RNC supporting Trump or
even Cruz. Unless of course he accepts a Rubio or
cockeyed jr. as running mate. And then they will try
to get another loon to knock him off. Like they did
Reagan.

I think Trump just committed felony blackmail.

Blackmail is: “Extortion of money or something else of value from a person by the threat of exposing a criminal act or discreditable information.”

OK, I have to stop for a second and ask did you actually mean the following ...

In response to this question:

Do you really want a President who punishes people for opposing him?

You wrote:

Of course! How else do you Make America Great Again.

<><><><><><

What kind of punishment do you envision for those opposing Trump?

“Last I heard it was not a crime to contribute to a PAC.”

Still isn’t. You can contribute to any liberal political
pack you like. No one’s stopping you. Just don’t whine and
cry when your outed for it.
