I fess up and admit that I used to give a fair ration of guff to Navy personnel.
My excuse is that I was young and stupid. I’m still stupid, but just not as young.

That all changed when I got sentenced to 2 weeks or so as part of the live cargo on one of y’alls troop hauling ships.

That was a true misery. I gained a ton of respect for those that serve on ships.

Of course, I still give guff to Navy. Tradition must be maintained, after all. But now I feel bad when I do it.

Semper Fi, Mariner.

To my everlasting regret, I never served.

But, almost every other man in my family did.

My dad was USAF, my uncle was a Marine, my grandpa was army, and my other grandpa was in the Navy.

When they all got together around the kitchen table and had a few beers in them, the trash talk was epic. Some of my favorite child hood memories.
