The expression “mean as a snake” came from rattlesnakes. I’ve killed a few. Their bite is very painful and can be deadly.
They are dangerous and aggressive, particularly in heavily populated urban areas.
The nature lover goo goo who thought of doing this should be demoted, transferred or fired.

Rattlesnakes are gentlemen compared to copperheads. At least they warn you.

No, rattle snakes are not aggressive. I've handled many of them. They will defend themselves if molested but they will not go after you and try to bite you.

The only rattle snake I've needed to kill was one injured badly when hit by a car. Sorry but the stuff you're saying is not true and it's fear mongering.

This is a C. Horridus or Eastern Timber Rattler that I photographed in 2012. As you can see, I got quite close to her and she wasn't aggressive at all. Yes, I was within strike range...
