Hispanic Conservatives: Cruz "Perhaps Worse" Than Trump
Texas Tribune ^ | Dec. 14, 2015 | Patrick Svitek

Posted on 02/21/2016 5:31:59 PM PST by ObamahatesPACoal

After meeting with Ted Cruz's presidential campaign, Hispanic conservative leaders are expressing concern that the Texas senator is in favor of "self-deportation," an immigration position that helped defeat the last Republican nominee.

Speaking with reporters Monday ahead of the fifth GOP debate, an influential group of Latino Republicans said campaign officials impressed upon them in a closed-door meeting that Cruz supports "attrition through enforcement." That view, one of the leaders said, assumes that once certain enforcement measures are put in place, "there'll be no need for legalization because there will be no undocumented immigrants in the country."

Kobach, Vitter & Coulter were the first people to say Rubio was the Cabana boy and Cruz was the talented hispanic.

Title really should say "Hispanic RINOS" or "Professional Hispanics" or "Hispanic pundit class".

Trump told the H Chamber of Commercer where to go.

I hate how Cruz waited until the TPP had enough votes to pass before casting his ‘NO’ vote :(

I personally don’t trust Cruz on this issue.

Many Latinos don’t think much of either Cruz or Rubio, in part because they are Cuban and Cubans comprise a small fraction of the Hispanic population and (at least in their opinion) have always received more favorable treatment. Cubans are 3.5% of the US Hispanic population vs. 65% that are Mexican, and 70% of them live in Florida, which give some credence to arguments that they are not representative of US Hispanics in general.

Why is favoring illegals staying in the country at the expense of the rest of us a Republican value in the first place?

These people are RINO frauds. Maybe some of THEM need deporting by the next president.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Reagan actually won a primary, eh?

The only candidate who beats both Clinton and Sanders in the polls is Rubio yet he hasn’t won a primary. Don’t you see that running in the general election is completely different from running in a primary?

I don't think that is quite what the "conservative hispanic" said. If enforcement of present law was done, then yes there would be few illegals. Many would self deport because now they can't work. Many more would not get here in the first place.

But a "path to legalization" can be just as arduous as what I went through (legally) getting my foreign wife here. It only cost me $25,000 and took 2 1/2 years. In that case, sure, have a "path" and make it hard as hell.

Oh I see it fine. This polling for the general 9 month out is useless. But even given that, were talking about a couple of percentage points. Your candidate is doing so bad that you got nothing and are grabbing absolutely any crumb, no matter how pointless, to make a case.

Yep. Also, this was 2 months ago. Shockingly enough, conservatives don’t seem to care much about the concern trolling of hispanic RINO’s and Salon columnists. :)
