IMHo, since the sixties, Americans, across the board, have lived in carefully crafted illusions rather than dealing with reality.
One of the most heavily promoted and carefully crafted illusions is that agreeing with one party or the other when they claim, our lawyer is better than your lawyer, is the same thing as having a choice on election day along with the corollary that sticking with career politician lawyers is better than taking the risk of electing someone who isn't a lawyer.
