Obama: Donald Trump won't be president and shouldn't be given the nuclear codes
The Los Angeles Times ^ | February 16, 2016

Donald Trump "will not be president" despite his commanding lead in the Republican field, President Obama flatly declared Tuesday, bluntly questioning Trump's temperament while asserting that a restive electorate would ultimately make a "sensible choice."

It was Obama's most scathing assessment of the Republican nomination battle to date as he argued that Trump's views were the norm, not the exception, in the Republican Party, and that the front-runner had no business being given access to nuclear weapons or deciding how to prevent a banking crisis.

"Whoever is standing where I'm standing right now has the nuclear codes with them, and can order 21-year-olds into a firefight," he said, "and have to make sure that the banking system doesn't collapse and is often responsible for not just the United States of America but 20 other countries that are having big problems or are falling apart and are going to be looking for us to do something....

One day, I hope, the Cuba socialist types like Obama will be left behind in the dusbin of history as the Singapore or South Korea types will cruise on to their deserved spots of relevancy to America.

Makes me fear for Trump's health when some of the folks making these comments repeat themselves.

What makes an Obama more afraid of Trump than of Cruz? Is it the actual differences or is it that the traitorous insiders (of both parties) know how to keep Cruz out of the WH even if he prevails?

Obama is going to do for Trump what he has done for gun sales.

He’s having a hard time containing the evil. It’s oozing out of his dirty mouth.

Last time I checked, Trump didn’t make any $150 billion give awau deals with the enemy, release any terrorists from gitmo or trade a deserter for 5 taliban terrorists.

Sounds like Obama is sending out a message to the dem voters not to cross over to Trump.

*sigh*

Trump is a Democrat. An ultra liberal one at that.

Obama’s too dumb to realize that he just increased Trump’s support.

I think the calculation is that it will increase Trump's support in the nomination campaign, but hurt him in the general election.

We'll see how it plays out, but I don't think Obama cares to kneecap Trump before the convention.

I would expect the Democrats to hope that Trump goes to the convention with a plurality, fails to get the first ballot, the nomination goes to an establishment pick, and Trump cries 'dirty tricks' and goes 3rd party.

Strong third party runs helped Clinton in both his presidential elections...

Odd, isn't it, that the one who supposedly embodies the view of the majority of Republicans can never get more than thirty-something percent of the vote.

To me this is a veiled threat that if Trump is elected he is not going to leave. Like so many banana republics/third world countries he admires.

So much Kabuki theater... He knows Trump cannot win the general election. The strong negative perception of him among some segments of the population, notably the young, actual thinking (rather than simply emoting) conservatives, Hispanics, the left mean that he will face a ceiling beyond which he will not rise.

The only reason he is the current front-runner is because the anti-Trump vote has been split among the rest of the field. I pray that the remaining contenders will step aside and unify behind a single alternative to Trump; Any of the remaining choices are better options for the country, the party, and the conservative cause than the polarizing, fake conservative buffoon Trump.
