Nice try — to compare someone to a Pharisee while you defend a man who in ways acts like a Pharisee. It is unreal to see a man so out of it that he says he doesn’t ask much for forgiveness or need much forgiveness. That’s the guy that sounds like a Pharisee.
And if you think moral character doesn’t matter, just because we’re all sinners you’re very wrong.
I lack the hubris to play God about the final disposition of anyone’s soul.
I think we are expected to have a relationship, not a less smudged list of rules that we grudgingly kept, more or less.
