You bet the first part matters. But the rest does, too. Our Founders always thought we would be a just and moral people — and they wanted us to prefer Christians to be their leaders. Ted Cruz has a Christian testimony and can tell how God has worked in his life.

Donald Trump has indicated that he really doesn’t seek much forgiveness from God. That shows how little he knows himself. I can’t recall other presidents whom I considered Christians (Reagan, Bush) EVER talking down to people the way Trump does with Fiona, Kelly or Carson. Most Christians would have a sense of moral failure for dumping two wives for mistresses, but not Trump. He is a man of low moral character — and if people think he would make a fine leader, that’s fine. I disagree. He reminds me of that moral degenerate and scheming politician — Arnold Schwarzenegger.
