That said, this time he is correct. Trump is still only getting 32.5%. As people drop out, those votes ought to divide up at least a third to Trump--they don't.
South Carolina was in fact a difficult constituency for Trump under circumstances where the key political leaders were all lined up against him; there is a significant block of votes that will favor the party line establishment; there is another significant block of evangelical vote of which Trump isn't naturally going to get a lot; most of those factors line up in favor of Rubio. So maybe you can't really draw much of a message other than that Trump's core support is solid.
