Trump has already said that by “mandate” he meant that insurance companies couldn’t deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions.

Without providing many details, Mr. Trump said this week that he would promote health savings accounts and spur interstate competition among insurance companies to reduce prices.

The New York Times writes a stupid contradictory sentence. As usual.

Nice talking point, but how are the insurance companies going to pay for their "pre existing condition" MANDATE without the INDIVIDUAL MANDATE?

Tax subsidies to the Insurance companies?

Right.

No, the only way to mandate coverage for pre-existing conditions is to MANDATE that everyone in the country be enrolled in a health care plan.

You Trump people are just amazing. The hoops you will jump through to make excuses for your Messiah.

They know. It was apparent during the Townhall. The last thing Cooper said was pre-existing conditions and what would happen to those people. Trump said he supported THAT mandate. Then later he tweeted that he meant a backstop for people with pre-existing conditions and the film supports that.

What you have now instead of just political opponents playing dirty you have the GOPe and media taking snippets, attaching meaning, and swearing by it even though it's false. And notice, they will never walk back their false accusations.

I am so sick of these people.

I saw the Town Hall it was clear that’s exactly what he meant.

Trump has already said that by “mandate” he meant that insurance companies couldn’t deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions.>>> and ok i heard Rush opine and he doesn’t understand that most health insurance is company based. so when you go entrepreneurial you won’t be covered because you had a heart attack. or you downsize to a smaller company they may not underwrite your past health issues. you get old — stuff starts to not work so great. cant change your job after your 50. it is not insurance. it is screwed up and no politician (r and D) even understands that they made the problem with medicare. /end rant

Trump has already said that by “mandate” he meant that insurance companies couldn’t deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions.

Which means a.) it's NOT insurance, it's a subsidy and b.) SOMEBODY will have to pay for it -- either the other insureds or the government (i.e., taxpayers).

This man is a "businessman", remember. But he doesn't appear to understand the insurance business.

"he meant that insurance companies couldn't deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions."

Great plan. That means I don't have to pay for fire insurance until after my house burns down.
