..In the landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz assembled a coalition of 31 states in defense of the principle that the 2nd Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms.
In addition to his victory in Heller...
Cruz wrote the amicus brief for the 31 States,
The actual in Court victory was won in SCOTUS by Hellers own 3 lawyers led by Alan Gura, who actually argued the case before the Court. Cruz was not part of that team at the Supreme Court.
“Cruz wrote the amicus brief for the 31 States...”
Correct:
Wiki: “In the landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz drafted the amicus brief signed by the attorneys general of 31 states, which said that the D.C. handgun ban should be struck down as infringing upon the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Cruz also presented oral argument for the amici states in the companion case to Heller before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.”
What I find interesting is how for somebody that “nobody gets along with” and “hasn’t accomplished anything” - how Cruz was was able to put together something that all 31 states agreed to. I am guessing that all the state’s had their own little versions of what they wanted to see in the brief.
Cruzers think that ole Boots ‘n Belly was up there pontificating before Scalia with arm-waving and soaring rhetoric. Didn’t happen. Doesn’t matter, post after post will state how Cruz won Heller.
