Manny Pacquiao posts Bible verse that states gay people should be killed [Luke 6]
Los Angeles Times ^ | 2/18/2016 | Chuck Schilken

Manny Pacquiao is not backing down from his stance against homosexuality. Less than a day after the Filipino boxer and politician lost his sponsorship deal with Nike because he compared gay people to animals, Pacquiao took to Instagram early Thursday morning and posted some Bible verses that support his views. One of them, Leviticus 20:13, states in no uncertain terms that homosexuals should be killed:

"If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Pacquiao's post was up for about two hours and got more than 18,000 likes before being deleted. The Filipino news agency ABS-CBN captured a screenshot of the post before it was removed. Pacquiao, a member of the Philippines' House of Representatives, included other Bible verses in his post, including Luke 6:22-23, an apparent reference to his current situation:

"Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets."

Pacquiao was one of several candidates for the Philippine Senate who recently were asked their views on same-sex marriage during a recent interview broadcast by the Filipino television network TV5...

Yeah, they met a “Christ” that thought the way they did, rather than one that expanded their minds in love and its capabilities. Uh huh.

Manny missed the oportunity to point to Christ as savior.

Manny is a Roman Catholic and they seldom use the Gospel to represent their views. They prefer to add their mythical Mary to the mix.

I moved to Leyte in 2013, and soon after arrival, I was invited to a "Beauty Pageant". I found out it was for "Miss Gay Ormoc" the city where I was living). Out of curiosity, I went and watched the event. I was appalled to see the people there cheering and laughing for the "contestants" who were strutting and posing.

But, at the beginning of it, I got a real eye-opening. They invited this nice little old Roman Catholic lady to open with a prayer. I was waiting for the lightening!

There seems to be a disproportionate number of queers here. I don't really understand it because so many of the ladies... are BEAUTIFUL! What a waste! These are some of the REAL Filipinas!

Up until the 1960s, many nations in the world considered Sodomy to be at least a mental illness, at most a crime warranting severe punishment. Yes, there is forgiveness for sin in Christ Jesus, however God’s Word does not, and will not change. The wages of Sin is death. I do not believe that the later dispensations negate the previous ones. Rather, the previous dispensations were foreshadows of the future ones. The later ones fulfill the earlier ones...

Unless, perhaps, there was a greater context to the revelation (as there was to the various admonitions to the churches in the book of Revelation) but then we have to ask, why this truncated treatment. It seems self serving from one angle if not the other.

“Other countries are bidden to follow in the pattern of the Noahide law and are indeed bidden to forbid adultery but not by treating it like bloodshed is treated, which is with the option of bloodshed as penalty. There have been no updates to this.”

The law reveals the mind of God regard multiple crimes worthy of death. It is confirmed in the New Testament that such deserve the death penalty, and that governments are ordained by God and do not have the sword in vain.

The death penalty is not cruel to the victims of horrific crimes that may not necessarily rise the “Noahide” standard you claim applies to nations today.

I’ve been down a discussion of why this one hit the head of the rogues’ gallery in the scriptures.

The thinking Christian’s answer (while thought is still not forbidden) would probably be that it instinctively revolted most people and this was backed up by its contrast to the well instinctively understood imperative to be fruitful and multiply. If you wanted an example of something very bad, to emphasize just how bad sin can get, just about everybody would agree this was.

In the modern day, our modern, unnatural “zero population growth” people have persuaded many that the imperative to be fruitful and multiply is passe. It is a small step in the world from such a presumption to the idea that sex perversion is benign. I’m not surmising here; I had a CHILDREN’S science book from the 1950s that said so. Written about 70 years ago.

Christ, for His part, came to save this kind of sinner every bit as much as to save the adulteresses he met. And even more, to head off this kind of sin in the first place: “Suffer the little children to come unto Me.” He isn’t the one with the difficulty at all. WE are the ones! We don’t have to make it a big issue but we do because we are weak... not because we are strong.

You talk in generalities. If you want to get to specifics, I will see every single one, showing you are a hypocrite.

I don’t “claim applies” — the bible SAYS they do and there is no update.

YOU are the one involved in evil imagination.

The Roman Catholic Church declared them true; how true they were, is another story.

Come on, this is the 21st century. If you want to preaching death to homosexuals you have to quote the Koran. Then it’s okay. I thought everybody knew that by now.

Comparing homos to animals was a bad idea, animals have more class!!! Homosexuality is a mental disease, the majority of gay men were molested as children..the left just goes after Pacquaio because he dares to speak out against this demonic sexual behavior, he refuses to be a good puppet and repeat the liberal BS we have all been hearing for years

If Jesus-hating people would quit unthinkingly passing along the rumors and gossip about the Holy Bible that they hear and read it for themselves, then they would know that Jesus death and resurrection changed a few things.

For example, regardless that Leviticus 20:11 orders that people who commit incest must likewise be put to death, 1 Corinthians 5 indicates the following. That chapter tells us that that Paul told that church that they should have expelled a member of that church for committing incest, nothing in that chapter about putting the sinner to death.

I don’t believe that homosexual people should be killed.

Also what do you do with “Beloved do not seek your own vengeance”?

It’s the people who know how to forgive (and how to let the blood of Jesus Christ do what it can) who bring the most peace, truth, and beauty into the world. And if you quote Romans 13 surely you don’t mean the answer to every traffic offense should also be beheading.

It takes a devil to persuade people that wallowing in wrath is wonderful.

I’m outta this echo chamber. It’s smelling sulfurous in here.

Jesus Christ never addressed homosexuality. It isn’t even addressed in the Ten Commandments.
...............
The Son of God, being the God of Israel, told Moses what we see in Lev. 18 & 20. So he did speak, 1400 years earlier.

Many dismiss the saints (and their stories), that’s true.
