OK well I watched the whole Stephenopolis tape and didn’t hear Trump call Bush a liar. He may as a private citizen years ago have called Bush a liar I don’t know, but I don’t think that’s what he’s been saying since he started running for office.

The Bush administration lied in terms of misrepresentation because there was no certainty about the WMD’s still being there. But I doubt Bush ever actually said himself that WMD’s were there and were the reason for the invasion.

To my recollection there was no connection between Iraq and 9/11. There were few if any WMDs in Iraq assuming we are talking about chemical and biologicals. Their A progrom was taken out by Israel long ago. If we were looking for countries with real WMD stockpiles, there were others if that is what we wished to do starting with Russia, N Korea, China, and if we wanted to go after friendlies there is Britain, France both with A programs, Israel etc. No one has adequately pointed out to me the rationale for this invasion except some comment the intelligence was wrong. Wrong, it was, it was a disaster for our credibility. It was not just wrong about the WMDs, let’s not forget according to the intell, they were going to be awaiting for us with welcome arms, the people that is. The real question is, did that administration get anything right about Iraq?

Your second supposition is correct.

However, your first sentence, saying the Bush administration "lied in terms of misrepresentation" is not clearly correct. Colin Powell's prissy complaints mean nothing. He is the worst sort of RINO. He quite ordinarily votes for Dems--and he hates Bush.

EVERYONE in the intelligence world believed that Saddam had WMDs. And the available evidence that came out in testimonies before the Senate Committee argues pretty strongly that Saddam did have WMDs--but that Saddam got most of them shipped to Damascus before we invaded Iraq.

Well here’s the exact quote during the debate:

“They lied, they said there were weapons of mass destruction. There were none and they knew that there were none.”

And to say they knew there were none is really putting the icing on the cake so to speak.

So yes, Trump said Bush lied and did so in the most extreme way.
