When I was a first and second looie at Fort Lewis 45 years ago, I saw the Army make men out of losers. I saw a poor black kid from Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn raise himself up to become an outstanding buck sergeant. I worked with an E-7 who said that the Army had saved him from a life of crime.
A little discipline would be a good thing for kids who didn't get enough discipline at home and at school.
