Great editorial. I can’t stand Trump, but he is right to challenge it, and I really wish some of the other candidates would take a stronger stand against it as well.

How is Trump not P.C.?
- He thinks the Confederate flag should be banned
- He thinks Affirmative Action is terrible
- In the last couple weeks he said he would move, 'gay rights forward'

Etc. He is very politically correct.

What difference would it make if the establishment candidates talked more? Most of them claim to be for “fixing” immigration and part of their ideas to “fix” it included amnesty and 500% increases in H-1B visas. They claimed they would get rid of Obamacare, and what have they done? They claim they’ll do stuff over and over again, they’ve been complaining about PC for years, but who among them made a full-throated demand for a wall, deporting, and banning Muslims?

I don’t disagree with the article’s thesis that PC is a problem, but it just seems to me that it’s saying the other guys should emulate Trump in words only so that he doesn’t win.

Because just one prominent person challenging it isn’t enough. If we really want to break the PC culture, others need to join in. If more Republicans talked like that, we might have a chance to change that culture

Very nice post... hard to believe an elite (one of the few good ones) understands how so many Americans feel...

I always enjoy reading or listening to Gelernter. I think he's very humorous and Yale is lucky to have him. There's an excellent hour long interview with David Gelernter conducted by Bill Kristol available here.

Hasn’t he changed his mind about all those things in the last few days?

Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,

"This is a pretty good read."

It had me up on my feet cheering.

Gelernter is an excellent cultural critic, I think.

People for Trump are sick and tired of the lying bastards who make promises before thier elected and then spit in your face and laugh when the succeeded in pulling up your underwear over your head.

How is Trump not P.C.?

Immigration.

Without mass immigration the left can't win. Trump is the most serious threat to their racket since Perot, without the unstable personality. In fact he's much worse because he was smart enough to run as a major party candidate and he can beat them fair and square.

All his minor concessions to PC are footnotes by comparison.
