I have an old friend who attended the Donald Trump rally in Biloxi, Mississippi this weekend. He dressed up in his crispest red button-down, overalls, and white #MakeAmericaGreatAgain hat. He cheered, he waved, he tweeted and posted to Facebook about his excitement for the rally and Trump’s slogan of change.

There’s just one problem. My friend is a Democrat. And polls show he’s not alone. Not only is Trump supported by mostly liberal and moderate Republicans, he also attracts a fair amount of Democratic support.
-snip-
But my good friend isn’t supporting Trump’s campaign because a great leader has convinced his usual opponents of his worth. He doesn’t agree with Trump’s “ideas” (such as they are) or support his “vision” for America (such as it is). He does all this because he knows Donald Trump is Hillary Clinton’s best shot at the White House. And polls show he’s right there too.

Among the hundreds of thousands of Republican candidates who could face off against Hillary Clinton in November, Trump consistently fares among the worst in hypothetical polls. The only people with lower RCP averages in a general election matchup are Kasich and Huckabee, neither of whom have a chance to appear in that contest anyway.

Democrats have the same opportunity to wreak havoc with the Republican primary this year. Clinton is all but assured the Democratic nomination, so her supporters would be better served casting ballots where they can be most effective. Swaying the GOP vote to Trump in just a couple early states could give him enough legitimacy and momentum to make the rest happen on its own.

As much as I would love it; Bill Bennett did not write that piece. It has been floating around now for quite a while. Bennett denied having anything to do with it; and the last I heard is not yet supporting Trump.
Stop your screaming. Second fix your grammar on your About page. How old are you, 12?
Why don’t you format that mess?
But switching candidates all of the time when they color outside the lines of your own ideology, is not a smart move. I look for bigger picture reasons to support someone and right now Trump looks to be swinging for the outfield fences. I'm watching to see if he'll hit it out of the ballpark and wins the nomination. But he could also strike out like big swingers and home run hitters are prone to do. No one knows for sure.
Supporting someone just because you think will can beat the democRATS in November is putting the cart-before-the-horse to me. Let's cross that road when we get there and then reassess our chances. Right now, the prize is the Republican primary nomination. Let's keep our eyes on that target and focus on the general election after that.
Trump is absolutely dominating this race right now. How anyone would think that he wouldn't totally destroy Mrs. Clinton is beyond me. It's like a shark versus a guppy despite what the polls say now.
Trump is my candidate, just not my candidate for President
Just today? I should win every day, I am Trump’s biggest fan!
Don’t encourage me, I am starting to scream at people on the street!!
OK, I won’t, BUT I SURE DO LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY THERE. I am reserving my encouragement.
Hahaha.....you have a lot of competition this year....
The award must be earned each day!
