I have an old friend who attended the Donald Trump rally in Biloxi, Mississippi this weekend. He dressed up in his crispest red button-down, overalls, and white #MakeAmericaGreatAgain hat. He cheered, he waved, he tweeted and posted to Facebook about his excitement for the rally and Trump’s slogan of change.
-snip-
There’s just one problem. My friend is a Democrat. And polls show he’s not alone. Not only is Trump supported by mostly liberal and moderate Republicans, he also attracts a fair amount of Democratic support.
-snip-
But my good friend isn’t supporting Trump’s campaign because a great leader has convinced his usual opponents of his worth. He doesn’t agree with Trump’s “ideas” (such as they are) or support his “vision” for America (such as it is). He does all this because he knows Donald Trump is Hillary Clinton’s best shot at the White House. And polls show he’s right there too.
-snip-
Among the hundreds of thousands of Republican candidates who could face off against Hillary Clinton in November, Trump consistently fares among the worst in hypothetical polls. The only people with lower RCP averages in a general election matchup are Kasich and Huckabee, neither of whom have a chance to appear in that contest anyway.
-snip-
Democrats have the same opportunity to wreak havoc with the Republican primary this year. Clinton is all but assured the Democratic nomination, so her supporters would be better served casting ballots where they can be most effective. Swaying the GOP vote to Trump in just a couple early states could give him enough legitimacy and momentum to make the rest happen on its own.

Yeah, and we all know how well Operation Chaos worked out for the GOP in 2008. /sarcasm
Donald Trump is the equivalent of Ross Perot, but he ran as a Republican instead of an Independent because he knows there’s a large portion of the Republican base that are gonna support the leading Republican no matter what.
BTW, both averages would be within the MOE.
Heresy! You must be a witch!
Well good for a laugh anyway. LOL!
Not only is Trump supported by mostly liberal and moderate Republicans, he also attracts a fair amount of Democratic support.
He also won “very conservative” and “evangelical” and all other demographic breakdowns in NH.
This just seems like another hit piece claiming anyone who supports Trump is a secret liberal. *yawn*
The article documents the intransigent stupidity of liberals everywhere.
I just think this is delusional on the part of the democrats
Hillary and Bernie are in a race for the far left, Ted Cruz owns the far right, and the 40-50% in the middle is up for grabs but loving Trump’s across the spectrum common sense
The reason conservative won’t vote for Trump is the reason twice their number of moderates and independents will
I predict Hillary won’t even survive the nomination process due to legal and health issues and Bernie won’t be the nominee either. Someone we don’t even know about is being vetted an d groomed to step in at the last minute and sweep it with very little scrutiny, just a lot of buzz and hype as a new fresh hope
Do I think Trump is a real Conservative, no prolly not....However knowing what I know now I have no reason to believe he wouldn’t be a better President than Juan McCain.
LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR
TRUMP WILL SUE YOU!!!!!!!!!
TRUMP IS A WINNER WINNER WINNER!!!!!!!
TRUMP WILL MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!
FREE HEALTH CARE FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!! HE WILL MAKE CHINA PAY FOR IT!!!!!!!!!
Bovine Scatology
My sense has always been that if they can’t win their own primary, then they can’t win the general election.
I preferred any number of people to Romney the last time around, and Romney was a lousy candidate. In order, I supported Perry/Cain, Gingrich, Santorum. I’ll never know if they could have won the general election. But I don’t think so.
Of all those names, I think that Cain probably would have done best.
But the truth remains: he didn’t even make it out of the early primaries.
Running around calling everyone who doesn’t love Ted Cruz a secret liberal seems to be his entire campaign platform at this point.
It’s a shame it turned out this way.
“......he also attracts a fair amount of Democratic support.”.......
Those are disenfranchised folks who are just waking up.
Secret? No.
Exactly. Trump is Clinton’s 21st century Ross Perot.

That is: Bluster, extremism (for the SAKE of extremism-and shock value); pandering to frightened and uninformed people ...etc.
He is as brash and irresponsible a representation of Republican extremists as “O” was/is a brash and irresponsible voice for Democratic extremists. I mean-he's a minority OF a minority and it's red meat for the MSM
Once in a while Trump actually says something that is “dead on” and I am OK with that... because (and let's face it) he articulates things that other candidates are too cautious or timid to say.
