At the time I defended team Trump on that video. Video relies on visuals. The picture was irrelevant to the substance of the point. On this “shook hands with Obama on immigration” the same principle applies. That video shows actual footage of Obama and Rubio — back and forth — point by point making the exact same talking points on immigration. “Shook hands with” was figurative. Obviously it is irrelevant whether they shook hands literally but is relevant that they “shook hands” figuratively. Photoshop is legitimately used to illustrate a figurative concept.
I also thought a picture illustrating immigration in general was ok to use as an illustration of the specific problem of immigration from Mexico.
