Apple is blocking nothing. The gov has the phone. They can do whatever they want. Apple's not stopping them. They've rigged it to blow if tampered with, so yes, Apple is stopping them, prior to the fact.

prior to the fact. Yep. Its why some people buy the phones. They are like a padlock company, and the gov wants them to help them figure out how to break it.
The other people who bought these padlocks side with apple, for obvious reasons.

They've rigged it to blow if tampered with, so yes, Apple is stopping them, prior to the fact. Self-erase after 10 failed attempts, actually. Easy enough for the FBI to get around. Make a disk image of the encrypted data on the iPhone. Attempt a brute force attack. After 10 attempts, the clone image self destructs. Repeat another brute force attack with the next cloned copy. The government does not need Apple's help.
