This was a general election strategy. Trump gets an hour in front of a non-Republican viewership. He did well in that Town Hall, and whether we want to acknowledge it or not, he's going to need to win the I vote and probably peel off a few D's in November, too.

Most of those asking the questions were D's and I's. Only a few R's.

The problem with your thinking is that you believe that Trump only has eyes for you. You have somehow convinced yourself that when he goes out at night, he’s just meeting old friends on the other side of town just to share a couple of drinks and a laugh, nothing more. I agree with you completely. Trump was sewing seeds in fertile ground for the crossover vote. The audience seemed mesmerized. I was surprised at how courteously he was treated. And to think that it was put together on very short notice. It was a brilliant move.
