Its quite extraordinary that the pope is interfering in an election. Absolutely disgraceful.

It's a tradition for that church.

They've never gotten over the loss of their power when they were aligned with royalty and the priesthood was a great place to send the second and third born males. Those were great times. They could burn at the stake anybody who disagreed with them.

Of course they did do some good things, e.g., the Crusades.
