Thank you, Space.

I get so sick of people bashing Big Pharma. Yes some medicine is high but without pharma half of us would be dead from the flu.

Research is expensive.

Here in the U.S. right now everyone gets medical care. Anyone can go to the emergency room.

My husband had heart problems ... we spent some time in the emergency room in an Irving hospital.

One night I was there quite a while and in the bed next to my husband was a parade of three little black boys who came in with parents one by one.

They had head lice. I could hear every word. They kids and their parents were treated with utmost courtesy by the staff. Instructions and medications were given. I was impressed.

Do you think that would happen in countries with the vaunted socialized medicine?

I have worked in big pharma for 20 years. The best thing you could do is add more competition as that would curb excesses. As it is supply in that industry, like with hospitals, is tightly controlled.

We pay high prices for drugs because the US is the most generous nation in the world, and the rest of the world uses their socialist governments to negotiate the prices.

I cannot believe people don’t understand someone has to pay for the R&D and litigation under a patent deadline. The US does and poorer nations don’t.

Tort reform will help, but it’s not the only solution.

That's just wrong, wasting that valuable resource.

They should have been triaged and sent down the hall to a 24 hr clinic with a nurse. They should have been billed 20 or 30 bucks.

absolutely not. we have (had) the best medical care in the world and so many people want to nationalize (europeanize) it, it’s pathetic.

What europe is doing is awful. I am on a couple of thyroid boards and the pleas of the people from other countries about where they can find decent medicine because they don’t have a doctor that responds or that has freedom to treat are astounding.
