I’m not sure what to make of all this, but it will be interesting to see what Obama and his ilk try to shove down the necks of real Americans.

Why do you say that? Most people I know pray for the souls of all sorts of friends and relatives that have passed away.

That's old school Catholic dogma. Even after your loved ones have passed on, they are likely to spend the next 9000 years in Purgatory. Hence you still have to pray for them.
