It's a losing tactic Ted. That dog ain't hunting no more.

The irony here is Cruz didn't need to lie. If he had remained honest, he would still be competitive. Liars lie, they can't help it.— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) February 17, 2016

I just find it odd that while the typical Cruz supporter is hyper-religious, they are utterly blind to his constant LYING. It's just weird.— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) February 17, 2016

What specifically has Cruz lied about?

It seems to me that Bill Mitchell's main authority for calling Cruz a liar is Trump himself (plus the zealots who love Trump's crass Alinsky-style tactics). But you ought to re-read Theo's post.

Or perhaps Bill Mitchell happens to believe Rubio's accusation that Cruz was lying about what Rubio had said on Univision. But fact-checking of the transcript of what Rubio had said on the Spanish-language channel confirms that Rubio was lying in the debate when he accused Cruz of lying.

My bottom-line point is that Cruz is being trashed with false accusations mainly because he is a credible Christian--unlike Obama and Trump (and now, even Rubio, I'm afraid). (See Mitchell's snide complaint about "hyper-religious" followers of Cruz.)

Another side issue is that Fox News is afraid of Trump and unwilling to go after him as they certainly could and also pro-Rubio to a significant degree, IMHO. If FNC were fair and balanced enough to cover Rubio's monumentally important Univision statement, for example, it would destroy Rubio and automatically vindicate Cruz--yet again. This would shift votes in a way that would suddenly put Trump in trouble.

Trump is beatable in the nomination process, but only if "evangelicals" wake up to the fact that Trump is a dangerous, socially poisonous phony. (Our nation's Founders--especially our Framers--would be appalled at the contempt that is being heaped on apparently genuine Christians in our day.)

The only thing that Bill Mitchell got right is that Liars lie, they can't help it. Just for fun, I would add that the folks who too quickly believe the liars' lies can't help it, either. They are liars by nature, too.
