80mph ? Must have had a wicked curve as a fast ball that is not goign to get you into the Majors even in the 60’s
My father had a contact for the minors in ‘64 but did damaged his solder in football so did not get to take advantage of it, good for me of course as I would not be here had he gone to California.
His fast ball was in the 90’s by the reports of the scouts but with no radar gun it was just opinion. He did throw a no hitter in HS playoff(Texas) but put 2 men on first... was a bit wild and hit the batters.
I have a brother who was twenty times the ballplayer I was.
He had dreams of making it to the major leagues.
He played semi-pro ball for a couple of seasons after high school. Afterwards he told us that two of the guys on his team had washed out of organized ball at the Class A level.
